Rainy Day Turkeys

We got some much-needed rain over the weekend, and I filmed in some fairly heavy downpours. Humans head for shelter at such times, not wanting to get wet. But wildlife pays little attention, if not actually reveling in the cool, wet conditions after a hot summer.
I filmed this turkey flock to illustrate. With a soaking rain in progress, they fed unconcernedly through all but the heaviest shower. Then, they simply stood and waited it out. Their feathers were soaked, but they made no effort to move under even the slightest shelter, such as leafy trees nearby.
When rain let up, they returned to feeding, picking seeds and catching bugs slowed by the soppy conditions. For them, it was just another day in the outdoors.
